Obituary of George W. Badman - Greene County, Illinois Geo. Badman Died Sunday - A Resident Here More Than Forty Years Geo. W. Badman was found dead in bed at his home Sunday morning about 8 o’clock. He had been in poor health for two or three months, and Mrs. Badman arose and prepared breakfast before calling him. When she did so she did not awaken him, and was shocked to find that he was dead. Life had probably been extinct but a short time, as the body was still warm. Funeral services were conducted at the residence Tuesday by Rev. D.H. Toomey, and the burial was at Hopewell cemetery, north of town. Mr. Badman was abou 64 years old. He was born in England, but had lived in this country forty years or more. He was an expert ditcher, and had laid many miles of tile in Greene county farms. The two daughters surviving are Mrs. Nellie Seymour of Nebo, Pike county, and Mrs. Wm. Edson, south of town. One son, William was killed a few years since on Pierson’s ranch. Henry, another son, was killed by the cars last summer, at Alton. A petition to probate Mr. Badman’s will was filed at the court house yesterday by Pleasant Driver, and it is set for hearing January 30. >From the "Carrollton Patriot", January 5, 1911, page 1.
