Obituary of Elizabeth Ferguson, Greene County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Mary Hillman White Hall Newspaper (no date on article) On March 19, 1896 occurred the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Ferguson, aged 82 years 3 mos and 7 days.  Deceased was boen in Tennessee, Dec 12, 1814, and married to James L Ferguson in 1831, removing to Greene County in 1831, wher they have since resided.  Ten children were born to them, four of whom are dead, namely: William; Sivera, wife of Alex Williams; Jonah, Nancy, wife of Henry Short.  The surviving children are Walker, John and Jane, wife of Jas. Stinnett, all of Greene Co; Thomas of Gillespie; Mariah, wife of J. M. Short, Carrollton; Elvis of Cherokee County, Kansas.  The grand-children number 48 and the great grand children 59, making 117 decendents Deceased was a consistent member of the Chrisitan church since 1857.  Funeral services were conducted by Elder Miller of Pike County, a large congregation attending, expressing deep sympathy for the bereaved children and friends.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations or persons.
