Obituary of Nicholas E BOWMAN, Greene County, Illinois

Nicholas E. Bowman, who for sixty-nine years had been a resident
of Carrollton, died in that city at seven o'clock Tuesday
evening. Sept. 3rd., at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 20
days. He was born at Newark, N. J., and after coming to Greene
county followed farming for awhile and then learned the
carpenter's trade, which he had followed for sixty years.

In 1855 he and Miss Sarah Jane Perry were married, and to them
were born twelve children, eight of whom are living as follows:
Jacob, of Peoria: Mrs. Carrie McGill and Miss Amy B. Bowman, of
Carrollton; Mrs. Geo. Stokes, of Chicago; Mrs. Mattie Boring and
Glen B. Bowman, of Springfield; Mrs. Jno. Kastrup of
Jacksonville; Charles of Phoenix, Az.

Rev. W. B. Shirey of the Presbyterian Church conducted funeral
services at the late residence at ten a.m. Friday
