Obituary of Mrs Barbara McADAMS, Greene County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Racerbarb White Hall Register Friday, January 21, 1916 Mrs. Barbara McAdams Barbara Katherine Buggins McAdams was born March 18, 1844 in Mason county, Missouri, and died at her home in Richwoods vicinity, Jan 12, 1916, aged 71 years, 10 months and 12 days. She was the daughter of Rueben and Katherine Artman Buggins. She was of a family of six brothers and three sisters, four of whom survive, as follows: Mrs. James Campbell, Roodhouse; Mrs. Mary Ann Roebuck, Healthy, Okla.; David Buggins, Winslow, Ark; John Buggins, Memphis, Tenn. Deceased brothers and sisters are Leila, William, Robert and Jacob. On June 14, 1865, she was married to Samuel McAdams, who died June 25, 1890, from the sting of a honey bee. To this union were born twelve children of whom the following survive; Noah, who resides on the home place; Hattie Weddesten, Roodhouse; Nettie Pitt, Oakdale; Isaac, St. Louis; Ida Meyers, Highstreet; Edwin, New London, Mo.; Marian at home. Two stepchildren, James B McAdams, Kansas City, Mo., Mildred Halbert, Bluffdale and her granddaughter, Ethel McAdams, ages 16 years who had been with her grandmother since a babe also survive. There where four children who died when quite young, Charles at the age of eighteen. There are twenty-two grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Mrs. McAdams united with the M. E. church when nine years of age and was a faithful member all her life. She was a devoted mother, also caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was truly loved by all who knew her. The funeral was conducted by Rev J L Albin of Berdan at the Richwoods church at eleven o'clock.
