Obituary of William Henry SMOCK, Greene County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Mary Hillman William Henry Smock, aged 81 years, 7 months and 2 days, died at the home of his son, Oliver Smock at Bloomington, Il., Thursday morning, April 10, 1924. Mr. Smock spent most of his life in and near Roodhouse, where he had a large circle of friends, both young and old, who mourn his passing. Deceased was born in White Hall, Il Sept 8, 1842. He united in marriage with Sophia Crabree, who died in 1888. Eleven children were born to this union, five of whom preceded him in death. The children surviving are Oliver, of Bloomington: Charles, Edward, David, and Leslie, all of Roodhouse; and Mrs. Etta Folley, of Barrow. He is also survived by one brother. John Smock of Roodhouse, and two sisters, Ruth Sorrells of White Hall, and Mary Ann Lorton of San Bernadino, California. also one step daughter, Mrs. John Bell of Girard. He was married a second time in 1901 to Emeline Ash, who preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. N. M.
