Obituary of Mrs Harriet Smith THOMPSON, Greene County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Mary Hillman Mrs. Harriet Smith-Thompson, wife of Isaac C. Thompson died at her home at Barrow at 6:30 a.m. Friday Jan 12, 1912, aged 63 years and 11 days. For the past year or two she had been suffering with dropsy and for months prior to her death had been bedfast. While her death was a great shock to friends and relatives, it was not unexpected. She was a daughter of William and Martina Hopeley Smith; born on a farm near Barrow and resided in that locality all her life. Besides the bereaved husband, she is survived by two children, Dora, wife of Frank I. Carr, of Eldon, Mo., and Fred F. Thompson of St. Louis, Zella died in infancy. She is also survived by three brothers and two sisters, among whom are W.O. Smith of Roodhouse, Mrs. A.J. Johnson, of Roodhouse and Charles E. Smith of Chicago. For years she had been a faithful consistent member of the United Baptist church at Barrow; Rev. Harms, pastor of the Roodhouse church, assisted by Rev. Carey Fitsjarrel of this city conducted funeral services at the late residence Sunday afternoon.
