Author: History of Grundy County IL 1914

Ashton, Jacob (deceased), was for many years a resident of Grundy County, and 
was born in Delaware County, Pa., in 1829, but he came to Grundy County in 
1851, and for three years thereafter carried on farming in Nettle Creek 
Township. He then went to Wauponsee Township and there rounded out his life, 
dying February 27, 1897. He married Rachel Hager, and they had three children, 
namely: William Ashton, John A. Ashton, and Sarah Levina, the latter being 
deceased.
