Author: History of Grundy Co IL 1882

Henry Clapp, horticulturist, Morris, was born April 7, 1825, in Addison 
County, Vt. When our subject was six years old, his parents moved to St. 
Lawrence County, N. Y., where he received a common school education. In 
October, of 1846, he settled in McHenry County; coming to Grundy County in 
1847, he located in Mazon Township, where for four years he engaged in 
farming. He next lived upon a small farm in Greenfield Township, which, after 
five years, he sold, and made purchase of his present farm of eighty acres, 
situated in Section 15; of Wauponsee Township, two and one-half miles 
southeast of Morris. Here he carries on a very lucrative business in small 
fruits and market gardening. November 22, 1857, in Pontiac, Ill., he married 
Mrs. Pyrena Dugan, born May 15, 1817. She was the widow of Robert DUGAN, of 
Wauponsee Township. Mr. Clapp is a Republican.
