The father was a member of the Legislature from 1860 to 1864, and removed to Illinois in 1865, settling near Morris, Grundy County. In 1878 young Gore went to Kansas, where, in 1879, he began the business of sheep-raising, about thirty-five miles from Wallace, in which he still retains an interest, the firm being known as Gore Brothers. In the summer of 1882 he became a member of the firm of Hubbard & Gore, druggists, at the corner of Thirty-ninth Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. Mr. Gore was married February 2, 1882, to Mary Bulkley, of Morris, Ill., by whom he has had one child, Anna Louise, born November 1, 1882.
