F. Hand Dr. A. F. Hand, deceased, the pioneer physician of Morris, Illinois, was born in Shoreham, Vermont, July 11, 1816, and at an early age came west to Illinois. He received his education in the Illinois College, of which institution he was a graduate with the class of 1844. Two years later, in 1847, he came to Morris and here began his professional career, a career which covered a period of forty years and which was one marked by signal success. Dr. Hand was recognized not only as a skillful and successful physician but also as a gentleman in every sense of the word, and he enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him. He died June 15, 1890, at the age of seventy- three years, eleven months and four days.
