Y., where he engaged in mercantile pursuits until 1857, when he came to Morris. Here he continued the mercantile business for five years, when he sold out and went to Mexico, where he was engaged for one year in buying, compressing and shipping cotton. After a trip East, he came back to Morris, where for the past six years he has been engaged in market gardening. He is located one mile south of Morris, on sixty acres of well-cultivated land, the soil of which is well adapted to the raising of such produce as he handles. He has one son - Harris Hoyt, born in New York September 17, 1841; has buried two sons and a daughter. Mrs. Hoyt is a member of the Congregational Church of Morris.
