Y., in 1836, a son of Simeon Knapp. Recognizing the importance of Minooka as a distributing point, soon after locating in Illinois in 1865, he established himself in a lumber and grain business there, and also gave his support to other enterprises of the community. He married Miss Pamelia Griswold. In politics he espoused the principles of the Republican party, although he cast his first vote for Stephen A. Douglas.
