(deceased), for a number of years a merchant of Morris, was born at Covert, N. Y., in 1813, a son of Zephaniah and Permilla (PHELPS) LOTT, and in 1848, located at Morris which continued to be his home, and the scene of his business successes. In addition to extensive operations as a merchant, Mr. LOTT was connected with the agricultural interests of improved land, and he also invested in Morris realty. He served as Deputy Clerk for eight years, and Justice of the Peace, being elected on the Republican ticket to all these offices. He was a Baptist in religious faith, and fraternally belonged to the Masons and Odd Fellows.
