He was born in Hamilton County, 0., December 22, 1834, a son of Ransom Misener. In 1851 he came to Grundy County, and worked among the farmers until he enlisted, April 27, 1862, at Ottawa, Ill., for service during the Civil War, in Company G, One Hundred and Fourth Illinois Volunteer Infantry, and was honored discharged June 6, 1865. After the war he returned home and lived in Braceville Township until his marriage, when he located in what is now Maine Township, there becoming the owner of considerable property. On December 12, 1867, he married Esther C.
