The responsibility resting upon these special agents is heavy, for upon them depends the success or failure of that certain make in their territory. One of the leading business men of Morris is Otto K. Severns, agent for the Badger automobiles, which are manufactured at Columbus, Wis. He was born September 28, 1886, in Wauponsee Township, a son of Horace H. and Laura (Lattimer) Severns, natives of Grundy County. Horace H. Severns was also born and married in Grundy County. For a number of years he was a farmer of Wauponsee Township, but in 1910 he came to Morris, where he is now operating the Morris Amusement Pavilion. Mr. and Mrs. Horace H. Severns were the parents of children as follows: Lottie, Mrs. W. A. Thomas, of Morris; Otto K.; and Altha, at home. Otto K. Severns attended the public schools of Morris and helped his father until he was eighteen years old. At that time he commenced working for neighboring farmers, and thus continued for two years. He then went into an automobile garage in Kansas City, Mo., where he was employed for two years. Following this he worked on a farm in Kansas, and then returned to Grundy County and was engaged on his father's farm for four years. At the expiration of that time he came to Morris and assumed the agency for the machine he is now representing. On April 13, 1907, Mr. Severns was married to Blanche Button, of Wauponsee Township, a daughter of George and Alice (Brockum) Button. Mr. and Mrs. Severns became the parents of one child: Glenn A., born July 4, 1909. Mr. Severns is a member of the Congregational Church. In politics he is a Republican. His fraternal associations are with the Odd Fellows, No. 134, of Morris. Mr. Severns is a live young business man, and under his care the affairs of his company are in excellent condition, and he is constantly placing new machines and keeping his customers satisfied with those which they have purchased. page 899 Additional Comments: Source: History of Grundy County, Illinois, Chicago: Munsell Publishing Co.
