In 1855 Mr. Thomas located at Morris and in 1858 was elected a Justice of the Peace, and four years later was elected County Clerk of Grundy County, holding that office from 1861 to 1878. In November of that year he was elected County Judge, and was holding that office when death claimed him, September 12, 1882. Judge Thomas married Amanda Ferguson, but they had no children.
