O. Morris. The subject of this sketch is a native of Devonshire, Ipplepen, near Torquay, England, born April 21, 1816; son of James and Elizabeth Winsor. Subject is the seventh of a family of eleven children; raised and educated in his native country. Married, February 12, 1843, in England, to Miss Martha Thomas, daughter of William and Mary Thomas, born in Devonshire, near Torquay, July 15, 1819. They came to the United States in the sailing vessel "Agnes", landed at New York and came by canal and lakes to Joliet, settled in Kendall County for two years, and then removed to Grundy County in 1850 and located in Saratoga Township, where he bought land and lived until 1864, when he removed to Norman Township, where he now lives. Here he owns a farm of 160 acres in Section 24, residence five and a half miles southwest from Morris. They have a family of eleven children, two of whom are dead, one son dying in England, and one daughter in Grundy County.
