Miss Millie Fluent was a Chicago visitor Saturday. Winfield Brown was in Joliet Saturday and Sunday. James Paul was in Joliet on business on Saturday. John Edmonds Jr. is sojourning here for a few weeks. Mrs. Richard Coop has been on the sick list the past week. Miss Lila Oaks spent Sunday at home with her parents. Mrs. T. Goldsberry has also been indisposed for a few days. Fred Shaw, of Joliet, spent Sunday with W. A. Thayer and family. Bert Kavanaugh of Joliet, visited his cousins, the McEvilly's over Sunday. Henry Talbot and Miss Essie Briscoe spent Saturday in Chicago with friends. Miss Marguerite Dempsey of Joliet spent a few days at home with her mother the past week. Misses Jennie Templeton and Maude Thayer, of Joliet, spent Sunday with their parents here. Charles Tinder and George Templeton took in Prof. Wood's dancing school in Joliet Thursday evening. The township caucuses were held last Saturday afternoon. At the democratic meeting the following ticket was placed in the field: Supervisor, Daniel R. Hall; Clerk, Wm. H. Kaffer; Assessor, P. H. Briscoe; Collector, George Coulehan; Highway Commissioner, John Brannick; Justices of the Peace for unexpired terms, Geo. W. Bell and Edward Barry. S. F. Trowbridge was Chairman of the meeting and Edward McEvilly was the Clerk. The tellers were Henry Dwyer and R. A. Carroll. At the republican meeting, W. J. Campbell was chosen Chairman and D. A. Henneberry, Clerk. The ticket nominated was as follows: Supervisor, Thomas Comerford; Clerk, C. H. White; Assessor, L. A. Ward; Collector, Albert Patten; Highway Commissioner, J. J. O'Brien. No nominations were made for Justices and Constables. Since the caucus, all the candidates on the republican ticket have withdrawn and it is doubtful whether any names will be substituted on the ballot. If not it will leave the democratic candidates with a clear field.
