Grundy County, IL "Minooka News" December 20, 1906 Vol. 31, No. 51 Markets - Corn 37; oats 31; butter 24; eggs 30. Mrs. Wm. Brannick is slowly improving from a severe illness. Ten carloads of sheep were unloaded here one day last week. Miss Franc Watson has been visiting in Chicago for a few days. Louis LeMoyne, of Joliet, visited with friends here Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. W. H. Kaffer and Miss Isabelle Kinney spent last Saturday in Chicago. A fine little son was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Meade, Jr., one day last week. Christmas exercises will be held in the Minooka M. E. church next Monday evening. A. Parkhurst of Chicago, was a guest of John Henderson and family here last Sunday. C. Cooper is the new teacher in the White Willow district, succeeding Miss Edna Bell who resigned. Miss Mamie Cockabean, of Chicago, was a guest here of Miss Elizabeth Carroll during the week past. Mrs. Sarah Brown, west of town, has been numbered among the seriously sick for a week or more. The Eastern Star ladies will give a grand holiday ball in Masonic hall next Tuesday, Christmas night. It will be a masque affair. Miss Ollie Thayer, who has been staying with her brother, Harry, in Rock Island, Ill., for several months, is making an extended visit with her parents here. W. E. Belfield died at his home in Seward last Friday, Dec. 14, 1906, aged about 70 years. He was a well-known citizen of this section and enjoyed the respect of all who knew him. He had been ailing for three years past and was seriously ill for the last few weeks. He leaves a widow and two sons. The funeral occurred Monday morning from the Seward Congregational church. The following officers of Minooka Lodge Knights of Pythias have been elected for the ensuing year: C. C., D. A. Henneberry; V. C., John Meagan; Prelate, George Rust; M. of W., G. I. Hooper; M. of A., Albert Patton; M. of E., L. A. Ward; M. of E., Geo. Colleps; K. of R. S., William Holt; P. G., Frank Eneix; O. G. C., Clarence Churchill; Trustees, C. A. Trowbridge; D. A. Henneberry. Patrick H. Dwyer died at the home of his son, John, in Seward last Sunday, Dec. 16, 1906, aged 81 years. He leaves the aged widow, three sons, Henry, John and Joseph, all of this vicinity, and three daughters, Mrs. Nellie Fitzgerald and Mrs. Kate Brady of Chicago, and Miss Anna Dwyer of Minooka. The funeral took place from St. Mary's church here Tuesday forenoon. Rev.
