ROLFE is recovering from pneumonia. M. J. WHALEN called on Joliet friends Friday. Miss Agnes McEVILLY, of Chicago, spent the holidays here. Miss Bridget O'BRIEN is improving from a severe illness. Born to Mr. and Mrs. James MEAD, Thursday, Dec. 29, a girl. Miss Lizzie COOP is very sick in Chicago, with pneumonia. Thomas OAKS is once more behind the counter at KAFFER's store. Mr. and Mrs. Frank WILSON visited friends in Plattville, Monday. D. A. HENNEBRY is able to be out again after a bad case of grippe. Mrs. Alex WALSTROM was a guest of her sister, Mrs. Erwin COOP Friday. Miss Blanch KNOWLES, of Morris, is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Frank JONES. Eugene PATTERSON, of Joliet, is visiting this week with his friend Rae DAVIS. Miss Mamie FITZGERALD, of Chicago, is a guest of her cousin, Miss Mary CANTWELL. The married ladies of St. Mary's church will give a card party in Masonic hall Jan. 13. Miss Lillian McCOWAN, the telephone operator, spent Sunday with her parents in Joliet. Sam MOORE and family, of Chicago, spent this week with his parents, Robert MOORE and family. Mr. and Mrs. John BUCKLEY, Henry NEWMAN and Miss Elva COOP are among the grippe victims. Harry THAYER, of Bureau Junction, spent Thursday and Friday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. THAYER. George TINDER Jr., and family, of Morris, are guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George TINDER Sr., this week. C. A. WHITE is now suffering with typhoid fever after having pulled through a severe attack of pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. CHASE arrived here from South Carolina a week ago and will visit friends and relatives for some time. Mrs. Charles COOP and Mrs. William PATTEN went to Chicago Monday to attend Miss Elizabeth COOP who is very sick there. Mrs. Nellie FITZGERALD, who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick DWYER, returned to her home in Chicago Saturday. James PAUL returned from Joliet Monday and is at the home of his sister, Mrs. Fred DIRST. He is suffering from a foot pierced by a rusty nail. Mart CLENNON and Misses Sarah and Agnes CLENNON who have been visiting relatives here the past week, returned to their home in Champaign, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. HENNEBERRY were the recipients of one of the finest and most appreciated of holiday gifts. A little daughter safely arrived at their home Wednesday, Dec. 28, 1904. W. A. CLARK passed the critical point in his illness with pneumonia last Sunday and is now gaining a little. Hope for his recovery was practically abandoned at one time Sunday. There was a large attendance at the card party given by the Young Ladies' Sodality of St. Mary's church, Thursday evening at Masonic hall. Miss Aggie McEVILLY won ladies' first prize and Mrs. H. P. BRANNICK second. John FORAN won the gentleman's first prize, Alex CONROY second. Jeremiah P. FEEHAN died last Monday night, Jan. 2, 1905, at 11 o'clock, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ambrose BRANNICK, southwest of this place, after a three weeks' illness with typhoid fever, aged 28 years. The decedent was a son of James FEEHAN and leaves two brothers, Daniel, of Chicago, and Michael, of Joliet, and two sisters, Mrs. BRANNICK and Miss Hester FEEHAN. Mrs. Annie FEEHAN died less than a year ago. "Jerry" as he was familiarly called by those who knew him, was a young man of splendid character and fine physique and was popular among all. He made a valiant fight against the fever but his strength became so wasted that death was the only alternative. The funeral took place yesterday with services in St. Mary's Catholic church in this place conducted by Rev. Joseph McMAHON. Burial in Dresden cemetery.
