The democratic and republican township caucuses were held last Saturday afternoon and two complete tickets were placed in the field. The democratic standard bearers are the following: town clerk, W. H. KAFFER; assessor, Peter BRISCOE; collector, S. F. TROWBRIDGE, highway commissioner, full term, Herman BELLM; to fill vacancy, J. P. CLENNON. The republican nominations are: town clerk, W. A. The world moves and this year, for the first time in a generation, there will be some strife in the village election. Heretofore a village caucus has been held, trustees selected and the election has confirmed the caucus choice. This year the usual village caucus was held last Saturday evening and nominations were made as usual as follows: president, D. A. HENNEBERRY, trustee, W. W. GRUETT, W. A. THAYER, William PATTEN, M. L. KAFFER and R. E. BRADY. This list was not pleasing to some of the elements and another caucus was held and an independent ticket put in the field as follows: president, C. E. DAVIS; trustees, D. R. HALL, W. H. KAFFER, H. P. BRANNICK, W. A. CLARK and J. J. BRINCKERHOFF. The campaign promises to be exciting and the election close but it is safe to say the country will be saved. This is the first time a village president has been nominated or elected. Heretofore the president, has been chosen from one of the five trustees when the board met for organization.
