MILLER was a Joliet visitor Saturday. Miss Hazel CLARK returned to Joliet Friday evening where she is employed. Geo. KROGNESS moved into the rooms lately occupied by T. MURPHY. Frank HILL called on Joliet friends Saturday. The Misses Katheryn and Tesse McEVILLY spent Sunday in Joliet. Mr. H. KILLELEA, of Marseilles, called on friends here Saturday and Sunday. Miss Emma FRECKELTON spent Saturday in Joliet. Mrs. F. JONES spend Saturday afternoon with the McLINDEN sisters. Frank KREIN, of Chicago, visited his mother over Sunday. Mrs. J. TINDER has put in a Chicago phone, and Frank ENEIX also had one placed in his residence. Mrs. J. TEMPLETON and daughter, Edna, spent Sunday with Luella TEMPLETON at the home of Chas. WYATH. Miss Jennie TEMPLETON has been with her sister, Luella, in White Willow since Friday. Myer JACOBS, our photographer visited his relatives in Chicago from Saturday until Tuesday. Sam MOON, of Chicago, spent Sunday with his mother who is still quite sick. Mr. Fred WEESE moved his family to Joliet Wednesday where they will make their future home. Mr. and Mrs. DUFFY, of Joliet, are visiting a few days with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. CAMPBELL. Rob CAMPBELL, who is now operator at Stockdale, Ill., visited his parents here Friday. Quite a number from here attended the performance of Way Down East in Joliet Saturday afternoon and evening. Thos. MURPHY moved his family into the CLOONAN house recently vacated by F. WEESE. Quite a number from here attended the funeral of Judge JORDAN of Morris Thursday. Frank ENEIX had his thumb thrown out of place Friday. It was very painful but is doing nicely now. Miss Mattie and Bessie COLLEPS and Lizzie CARROLL attended the matinee in Joliet Saturday. Miss Mabel FRECKELTON who has been working at Robt. Moore's home now. Drop in and have a cup of coffee and biscuit next week. Will be glad to see you if you intend to buy or not. KAFFER Bros. Miss Luella TEMPLETON is quite sick at the home of Chas. WYATH where she boards. Miss Olive THAYER is teaching the school until Miss TEMPLETON recovers. A number of couples had planned to attend the theatre in Joliet last Saturday evening, but the train being five hours late some gave up the trip and others drove over. Mr. and Mrs. Harry ANDERSON, of Chicago, came to visit Wm. COOP and family Saturday. Mr. ANDERSON returned home Sunday evening, leaving his wife to enjoy the fresh country air. Last Tuesday night about 11 o'clock Jno. EDMUNDS Jr., saw smoke issuing from a window in the brick store building owned by N. J. COMERFORD and occupied by KAFFER Bros., who keep a general stock of merchandise. The citizens promptly responded to the call for help and by hard work saved the surrounding property. But the COMERFORD building was almost a complete wreck; it is valued at $5,000 and $2,500 insurance was carried on it. The stock owned by Will and Lou KAFFER was all damaged and almost a total loss.
