Matthew ____ was a Joliet visitor Monday. Miss Maud THAYER visited at home over Sunday. William COOP visited the Stone City Monday. C. E. DAVIS was in Morris on business Saturday. Mrs. G. V. TINDER and baby were in Joliet Tuesday. Mr. McROBERTS, of Joliet, spent Sunday with Robert ROSE here. Mrs. Fred PATTEN who has been so seriously ill is greatly improved. Joseph FULL has been laid up with a sprained ankle for several days. Mrs. M. DEMPSEY has been quite sick the past week with a severe cold. John BOYD and family, of Joliet, spent Sunday with Alex BELL and family. Mr. GREENWALD and Douglas HINES, of Morris, called on friends here Monday. Miss Garnett MILLER spent last week with Miss May BRADY north of town. Miller FIELDS, of Chicago, spent a few days with Edwin OAKS and family this week. Miss Lorene PAUL and friend, Miss CLARK, went to Joliet Sunday to spend a few days. W. A. CLARK and family spent Sunday down on the river with relatives from Joliet. On account of heavy rain Monday but few attended the picnic at Channahon. Miss Elizabeth COOP, of Chicago, is spending her vacation here among relatives and friends. All here greatly appreciated the heavy rain that came Sunday evening and Monday morning. W. H. MURPHEY and wife, of Joliet, Sundayed with Mrs. MURPHEY's father, Edwin HOLT and family. A fine little daughter came Sunday morning to gladden the home of William ECKART and wife. Henry DEMPSEY, who visited a few days with his aunt in Chicago, returned home Monday evening. Miss Gertrude CAMPBELL, who had been visiting her sister in Iowa, returned home Tuesday morning. C. E. DAVIS and family and C. CHURCHILL and wife spent the past week camping down on the Dupage river. L. A. WARD and wife are the proud parents of a baby boy that arrived at their home Monday morning, Aug. 14. Edward THAYER's eldest two sons returned home to Chicago Sunday after a two weeks' visit with relatives here. Mrs. R. NEWSAM returned Sunday from the country where she had been caring for George NEWSAM who is very ill. Two Mormons gave a lecture on the street Saturday evening but their listeners were few. Meanwhile ye editor was viewing the great tabernacle and temple of the polygamous sect in Salt Lake City. George COLLEPS and daughter, Miss Bessie, left here Wednesday morning for the west. They expect to visit in North Dakota for several weeks. Miss Mattie COLLEPS accompanied them as far as Chicago. Michael WHALEN and Jno. F. McEVILLY left Wednesday for Chicago where they will spend a few days and will then go to Colorado for several weeks; then on to California where they will spend the winter in that sunny clime.
