Markets - Corn 38; oats 26; butter 18; eggs 21. W. A. CLARK was in Chicago on business Tuesday. Matthew SHEPLEY moved his family here from Joliet Monday. C. NEILSEN and family attended the theatre in Joliet Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. William COOP visited in Chicago Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. M. L. KAFFER and daughter Olive were Joliet visitors Saturday. Mrs. George TINDER and son Charles were Joliet visitors Saturday. Dr. J. J. BRINCKERHOFF had a professional call to Mokena last Thursday. Will FERGUSON who is attending the University in Chicago, was home over Sunday. Miss Julia KREIN, of Chicago, visited for several days with friends here the past week. Miss Bessie COLLEPS returned home Friday from Bismarck, N. D., where she had been visiting for two months. Miss L. CONLEY went to her home in Morris, Ill., Friday where she spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents. Harry THAYER and sister, Miss Ollie, started for the west last week and expect to visit various points in Colorado and Utah. Miss Maud THAYER, who is attending business college in Joliet, accompanied by her friend Miss WELLS, visited Saturday and Sunday with the former's parents. MATTHEWS & Co., the well drillers, who have the contract to sink the new town well, are moving their paraphrenalia here and will soon commence their work on the lot south of the post office that the town recently purchased from J. SHEPLEY. D. A. HENNEBERRY, Robert SHURTLEFF and John HENNEBERRY arrived home Tuesday from their trip to Assinibois, Canada, and all were delighted with the country up there. The threshing season was at its height in that country and the yield of grain in many cases is as high as forty bushels of wheat and one hundred bushels of oats to the acre. The country is rapidly settling up. Land sells for $8 to $20 an acre. Mrs. Wm. J. WALSH and little daughter Celia, of Joliet, passed through here last Sunday morning en route from a trip to Seattle and Portland. In Seattle Mrs. WALSH visited her sister, Mrs. William BUCKLEY. The BUCKLEYS will soon leave Seattle for Southern California. Mr. BUCKLEY's health is quite good but the approaching rainy season in Seattle is something that he wishes to avoid. Later on he may come east again.
