Mrs. Edward PATTEN was a Joliet visitor Saturday. Harry THAYER, of Rock Island, spent Christmas at home. M. P. RILEY, of Chicago, spent last Sunday with friends here. Miss Lizzie COOP, of Chicago, spent Christmas at her home here. Miss Maude THAYER spent the past week at her home in this place. Miss Alta HARE and brother Roy are visiting in Ottawa, Kansas. Mrs. H. GORHAM and daughter, Miss Etta, were in Joliet Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. MURPHEY, of Joliet, spent Christmas here with relatives. The recently elected masonic officers were duly installed last Thursday evening. Mrs. J. J. BRINCKERHOFF and children spent Saturday in Lockport with relatives. William FERGUSON, who is attending school in Chicago, was home over Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. G. TINDER and children, of Joliet, spent Christmas with the former's parents here. There was a very large attendance at the Christmas exercises in the M. E. church last Sunday evening. William PUTNAM has returned from Minnesota for a two week's holiday visit with old friends here. Quite a number from here attended the theatre in Joliet Christmas night and saw "The Land of Nod". Miss Katie McLEAN of Chicago, spent Christmas and the balance of the week here with Mrs. Elizabeth Van DOLSON. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. WALSH and daughter, Celia, spent Christmas with Mrs. WALSH's parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. MILLER. Mr. and Mrs. FAULKENBERG and baby spent Christmas with Mrs. Van FAULKENBERG's parents, M. DEMPSEY and wife. The dance given by the young ladies last Friday evening was attended by thirty-five couples and all present enjoyed a fine time. Mr. and Mrs. Fred DIRST, accompanied by the guests who had been visited here, look in the fat stock show in Chicago Thursday. W. A.
