Sheriff FRANCIS, of Morris, was in town on business Monday. Thomas OAKS called on friends in Lockport Tuesday evening. Dr. J. J. BRINCKERHOFF made a business trip to Chicago Wednesday. Wm. ROLFS and family moved into the old Miller BLIGH house on the south side of town last week. The PHOENIX-ADVERTISER is prepared to print auction bills quickly and reasonably. Also stationery and all classes of printing. The drillers are down 450 feet with the new village well and are making satisfactory progress. The prospects are excellent for striking an unfailing supply of the best water within the next hundred feet. A subscription was passed around a few days ago for donations of any amount of money one felt like giving, for Mr. and Mrs. Edward SAYER, and a nice sum was realized. The couple are aged and unable to work and everybody was willing to assist. Mr. and Mrs. J. V. BUCKLEY gave a euchre party at their home Tuesday evening and the following guests were regally entertained: Messrs. and Mesdames C. E. DAVIS, W. A. CLARK, C. E. CHURCHILL, William COOP, William PATTEN, H. BRANNICK, C. A. TROWBRIDGE, D. A. HENNEBERRY, C. F. DIRST, R. COOK, Arthur HOWARD; Misses Mae TINDER, Mildred FLUENT, Lizzie COULEY; Messrs. Winfield BROWN, Robert MILLER, James PAUL and George COLLEPS, Sr. William COOP won the most games among the gentlemen and secured the prize of a handsome cup and saucer. Robert MILLER played as a lady and won the ladies' prize - a very pretty dish. A fine luncheon was served at the proper hour.
