John KAFFER was a Joliet visitor Sunday evening. Mrs. G. TINDER was sick with a cold a few days last week. Dr. J. J. BRINCKERHOFF was in Joliet on business Monday and Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah SNIDER left here Wednesday for their home in Kansas. Miss Nellie HEAP spent several days of the past week with her sister, Mrs. C. CHURCHILL. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. PYLE attended the funeral of Miss Adeline DONALDSON, in Aurora, Ill., last Wednesday. The contract for the construction of the village water works has been awarded to Fletcher & Co., of Blue Island. Mr. and Mrs. ZeBELL, of Odell, who had been visiting Miss Mary CANTWELL here for a week returned to their home Tuesday. Mrs. GATON and brother, Lawrence COULEHAN, returned home a few days ago from Chicago after a weeks' visit with kindred and friends there. A large number of friends gathered at the home of Miss Mary CANTWELL last Monday evening at a party in honor of her guests, Mr. and Mrs. ZeBELL, of Odell. The two nights' school entertainment last Thursday and Friday was well attended and was well rendered. About fifty dollars was cleared with which an organ will be purchased for the school. The well drillers have encountered more trouble this week. Their shafting broke in two Monday and the drill and a section of the shafting fell into the well.
