COLLEPS resigned her position as telephone operator here for the Chicago Telephone Co. last Saturday evening. The well drillers completed the drilling of the new town well and left Wednesday for Dellwood Park, where they will put down a well. KAFFER Bros. have been conducting a grand cooking demonstration at their store for the last ten days, and same will continue balance of this week. The demonstration gives a practical illustration of the advantages of the great Majestic steel range and Mr. E. T. PHALEN, who is in charge, accomplishes results that any housewife might envy and which he says they may accomplish with the Majestic by following simple instructions. Hot biscuits, coffee and pastries are being served to all callers at Kaffer's this week. The new village well is 620 feet in depth and furnishes an abundant supply of as clear, pure water as there is in the world. After the vein of water was reached the pump was put in and the engine attached and the pumping continued for some time at the rate of 85 gallons per minute without lowering the water in the well in the least. The village officials and people in general are highly pleased with the results attained and they have a warm place in their hearts for Michael MURRAY who has had charge of the drilling operations and who has worked early and late and all the time under the most trying circumstances to obtain the desired results. The city fathers feel like extending him and his associates several votes of thanks for their good work. The work of laying mains and erecting a tank and tower will now be pushed ahead as rapidly as possible and the contract for the same has been awarded to E. P. FLETCHER, of Blue Island, the price to be $10,650. The tank will have a capacity of 60,000 gallons and will be of steel construction with a steel tower 100 feet high.
