COLLEPS spent Wednesday in Joliet. George RUST was a Joliet visitor Saturday. Markets - Corn 46; oats 32; butter 17; eggs 12. Wm. COOP and wife spent Sunday with Irwin COOP and wife. Mr. and Mrs. J. TEMPLETON spent Sunday with W. TABLER and family. The show in Masonic hall last Friday night was not very well attended. Alderman Melvin P. RILEY, of Chicago, visited friends and relatives here Sunday. Miss Isabelle KINNEY is spending the week with her sister Mrs. W. H. KAFFER. There were no services in the M. E. church last Sunday as the church is being cleaned. E. N. WEESE, J. H. MURPHEY, Dr. J. J. BRINCKERHOFF and C. WHITE were in Morris on business Tuesday. John DAVIS, Matthew SHEPLEY, Joseph RICHARDS and Howard ANDREWS took in the Robinson show in Joliet Saturday night. Robert MILLER and Miss Blanche LANGDON, of Joliet, visited the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. MILLER here Sunday evening. A few attended the school exercises given by the graduates from the eighth grade of the Walley and Mattison schools in the Aux Sable church last Saturday evening. The annual Commencement exercises of the Minooka high school will occur Friday night, June 22. The graduates are Charles M. TINDER and Misses Shirley A. DAVIS, Grace E. BELL and Eunice J. FERGUSON. The wedding of Mr. Robert C. MILLER, of Minooka, and Miss Blanche LANGDON, occurred in Joliet, where the bride resides, last Wednesday, June 6. The many friends here of the happy twain unite in extending best wishes. Robert SCHOFIELD arrived home a few days ago from Alberta, Canada, where he went to look at land. At Stepler he found Bert COOP who is doing well and likes the country. Mr. SCHOFIELD is figuring on buying a section of the Canadian land. Theodore KREIN Jr., who formerly lived in Minooka but who for several years past has been employed in Chicago was married there last Wednesday, June 6, 1906, the bride being Miss Stella BERGEN, also of Chicago. The good wishes of a large circle of friends here is extended to the happy pair. Fred M. BELL, son of William BELL, died here May 29, 1906, and the funeral took place Thursday. The decedent was a member of the A. F. & A. M. and of the O. E. S., and was a young man of excellent character and attainments. He had been ill for nearly a year. G. T. SMITH, Mrs. E. KINSELLA, Mrs. N. J. COMERFORD, Miss Mary COMERFORD, George COMERFORD and Miss Elizabeth COULEHAN attended the Commencement exercises of the Loretta convent in the Joliet theatre last Thursday evening, May 31. There were six graduates, one of whom is Miss Norene KINSELLA, of Joliet, a relative of those from here who attended. Miss KINSELLA achieved quite a triumph as the Queen in "Mary Queen of Scots" which was presented as the class play. Mrs. Michael BRANNICK died very suddenly at her home in this place last Monday night, June 4, 1906, near midnight, aged nearly 73 years. Mrs. BRANNICK retired that evening in her usual good health and slept until about 11 o'clock when she awakened with a sense of smothering and arose and opened the door of her room. Her daughter and Mr. HENNEBERRY were aroused thereby and immediately summoned a physician. Mrs. BRANNICK's heart action grew weaker as the minutes passed and Father McMAHON was called and administered the sacraments for the dying. The patient remained conscious until she fell peacefully into the long sleep. Mrs. BRANNICK was born Mary A. STERLING, at Providence, Rhode Island, in November, 1833, and when only a few years of age came with her parents to Lockport, Illinois, where the family resided for some time. When she reached womanhood she united in marriage with Michael BRANNICK and they resided on the farm near here until twenty years ago when they moved into town. Mr. BRANNICK died here three years ago. The surviving children are John, William, Ambrose and Henry P., of this place; Michael S. and Thomas F., of Goldfield, Nevada, Mrs. Alex ______ and Mrs. D. A. HENNEBERRY, of Minooka, and Mrs. T. F. BRADY and Mrs. E. J. DUFFY, of Joliet. Two sisters, Mrs. John BREEN, of Elwood, and Mrs. Patrick KAVANAUGH, of Evening Shade, Mo., also survive. Mrs. BRANNICK was a lady of rare kindness and generosity and readily gained the friendship and esteem of all who knew her. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Joseph McMAHON in St. Mary's Catholic church here Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment was in the Dresden cemetery. Transcribed by Deb Haines, Grundy County, IL CC, December 8, 1998
