COOP and Miss Mattie COLLEPS spent Wednesday in Chicago. Mrs. George FRECKELTON, of Joliet, visited relatives and friends here Monday. Mrs. James KAY and sister, Miss Carrie NELSON, were Joliet visitors Monday. Ald. Melvin P. RILEY, of Chicago called on friends and relatives here Saturday. Mrs. John HANSON has gone to a sanitarium in Battle Creek, Mich., to recuperate her health. Mr. and Mrs. Henry SQUIBBS and baby, of Joliet, visited the McEVILLY family here the past week. The Mrs. Luella, Winifred and Jennie TEMPLETON, of Joliet, visited Sunday with their parents here. A. WHITTINGTON and son, of Michigan, are visiting the former's parents here, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. MURPHEY. Good progress is being made on the waterworks station and the work of laying the mains will soon be under way. Mrs. M. DEMPSEY visited her daughters, Mrs. Van FALKENBERG and Miss Marguerite DEMPSEY in Joliet Saturday. Matthew SHEPLEY arrived home last Saturday from a sanitarium in Chicago where he spent several weeks for the benefit of his health which is greatly improved. Mrs. R. BLY and sister, Mrs. HUNT, returned home Saturday morning after visiting with Mrs. BLY's daughter, Mrs. Lettie HUTCHINSON near Elwood for a few days. A barn dance will be held at the home of Matthew PAUL and family next Wednesday evening, June 27. The music will be by Eversoll's orchestra, of Joliet. Everybody is cordially invited. A party consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur HEAP; Mr. and Mrs. Alex. MOORE, Misses Hazel CLARK, Alta HARE, May TINDER, Ella HENDERSON; and Messrs. John HENDERSON, James PAUL and Roy HARE spent Sunday down on the Kankakee river near Lorenzo. There was a large crowd at the M. E. church Sunday evening to hear the baccalaureate address to the high school graduates by Rev. LOWERY which was greatly appreciated and enjoyed by the graduating class of '06 and the public in general. The eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick WHALEN died Sunday morning, June 17, after an illness of a couple of weeks. Funeral services were held at Mrs. WHALEN's parent's home south of town Tuesday and the body was laid to rest at Dresden cemetery. Minooka has contributed several students to St. Angela's academy at Morris and one of their number, Miss HANSEL, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob HANSEL participated as a graduate in the commencement exercises of the academy which were held last Friday evening. Several from here attended the commencement, among the number being Mr. and Mrs. N. J. COMERFORD, Mrs. E. KINSELLA, Mrs. D. A. HENNEBERRY, Miss Ellen CONNELL and the Misses Mamie and Frances COMERFORD.
