WEESE visited friends in Morris Monday. Miss Emily MULRONEY, of Chicago, visited friends here last week. Miss Beulah WEESE, of Joliet, is the guest of Miss Shirley DAVIS. Howard ANDREWS and Lester OAKS left last week for a trip in the west. J. N. EDWARDS, Esq., is having his residence nicely repaired and repainted. Miss Mable CAMERON, of Chicago, is a guest of Mrs. James PAUL this week. Misses Shirley and Ruby DAVIS returned Friday evening from their visit in Joliet. Miss Delia CONNELL, of Park City, Utah, was a guest of relatives here last week. Children of Mr. and Mrs. Tobias DREW, of Channahon, are afflicted with diphtheria. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. GRUETT returned home Saturday morning from a visit in the country. Charles O'BRIEN and wife have been entertaining the former's mother, from town. The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. MEADE has been very ill but is now better. Michael BRANNICK, of Nevada, visited among kindred and friends here this past week. The Misses Ruth and Esther HAMFORD are visiting at the home of Mrs. William GRUETT. Miss Lureno PERKINS is spending the week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. MURPHEY. Mrs. J. S. WATSON and Miss Lottie WATSON left Monday for a visit in St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. James HUNT, of Morris, spent Wednesday here with their ______, Mrs. BLY and Miss HUNT. Harry THAYER, of Rock Island, spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. THAYER in this place. Mrs. George TINDER jr. and two children, of Joliet, are visiting with Mrs. George TINDER, sr. at present. Isadore HOLLERING, of Wheaton, Ill., spent a few days of the past week here with his sister, Mrs. William HOLT. Mr. and Mrs. Dayton HUTCHINSON, of Elwood, spent Sunday here with Mrs. HUTCHINSON's mother, Mrs. Wm. BLY. Thomas COULEHAN last week sold his farm at Dresden Heights for $65 an acre. The purchaser was Arthur McLINDEN. Postmaster TROWBRIDGE and family are now nicely located in their new residence and are happy in the possession of the same. D. A. HENNEBERRY was reappointed as county central committeeman for Aux Sable township at the county republican convention in Morris last week. The high wind that accompanied the storm last Thursday night blew down the corn in this section quite badly and it is feared that some of it will not rise again. Howard DAHLEM was accidentally struck in the back of the head by a piece of brick thrown by another boy near the post office last Friday and an ugly gash in the scalp was made. The injury, however, was not serious. Prof. and Mrs. S. J. KAKLE arrived here last Thursday from Antioch, Ill., and the Professor is getting ready for the duties of superintendent of schools here the coming year. He and his wife will occupy quarters in the D. R. HALL residence. Samuel F. TROWBRIDGE, one of the pioneer citizens of Minooka, enjoyed a visit last week from his brother, James TROWBRIDGE, of Kansas City, Mo. The latter also lived here years ago, leaving here about the time of the beginning of _____ war. Mr. and Mrs. N. J. COMERFORD expected to leave next Monday for New York and to sail from there on the 25th for Ireland to spend three months on the "Auld Sod". Both have relatives they and they are anticipating a warm........
