For many years the Abbott family were residents of Morris. Here Ida's young life was spent mid pleasant surroundings, and of a natural cheery disposition she gathered around her a circle of friends who now mourn her departure as they would a sister. She was a graduate at the Morris High School, of the class of '85. The class consisted of eight, a list of which, as we find it published in the school calander of '88, was as follows: Ida M Abbott, Hattie M Baker, Cora B Hastings, Minnie M Horrie, Jentle L Moon, Minnie M Noonan, Nellie H Thomas, Everett R Brown. Of these the first and last have passed from earth's troubles and entered the school of the great Teacher. Another, Miss Cora Hastings, for a long time lingered upon the borders, but her life was spared, and she with other members, attended the funeral of their class-mate and friend. After graduating she took a position in the store of her uncle, S C J Peterson. While there, one year ago last September, her parents moved to Joliet to reside, and later she went there and took a position as cashier in the Chicago Bankrupt Shoe Store, where she remained until last September. Having contracted a severe cold, she stopped work for a few days, as she supposed, but never again resumed her occupation. From that time until her death she gradually declined. Two weeks before her death she came to a full realization of her situation and prepared herself fully for the ordeal when it should come. The remains were brougnt here from Joliet on Tuesday morning, accompanied by a large concourse of friends. The funeral took place at the church of the Immaculate Conception, and was the most largely attended funeral which has been held here in a long time. In addition to Father Hemlock, who officiated, there were present Father Abbott, uncle of deceased, and several other of the clergy of the church. The sympathy of this community is extended to the father, mother and brother.
