Mrs. Brannick retired that evening in her usual good health and slept until about 11 o'clock when she awakened with a sense of smothering and arose and opened the door of her room. Her daughter and Mr. Henneberry were aroused thereby and immediately summoned a physician. Mrs. Brannick's heart action grew weaker as the minutes passed and Father McMahon was called and administered the sacraments for the dying. The patient remained conscious until she fell peacefully into the long sleep. Mrs. Brannick was born Mary A. Sterling, at Providence, Rhode Island, in November, 1833, and when only a few years of age came with her parents to Lockport, Illinois, where the family resided for some time. When she reached womanhood she united in marriage with Michael Brannick and they resided on the farm near here until twenty years ago when they moved into town. Mr. Brannick died here three years ago. The surviving children are John, William, Ambrose and Henry P., of this place; Michael S. and Thomas F., of Goldfield, Nevada, Mrs. Alex ______ and Mrs. D. A. Henneberry, of Minooka, and Mrs. T. F. Brady and Mrs. E. J. Duffy, of Joliet. Two sisters, Mrs. John Breen, of Elwood, and Mrs. Patrick Kavanaugh, of Evening Shade, Mo., also survive. Mrs. Brannick was a lady of rare kindness and generosity and readily gained the friendship and esteem of all who knew her. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Joseph McMahon in St. Mary's Catholic church here Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment was in the Dresden cemetery.
