Everett had never been a strong boy, but he had been comparatively well for some time prior to Wednesday, March 24. On that day he caught cold, which at once developed into pneumonia from the effects of which he died in one short week. His death at such an age, just as he was developing into manhood, was peculiarly sad. Last June he had graduated from our high school, and during the present school year he had been pursuing some extra studies, hoping thus to better fit himself for the work of the ____, which, in his young and hopeful imagination, was spread out so beautifully and attractively before him. But alas! his plans for this world were not to be realized. His young life, so full of hope and promise, was cut short here, and the good Father took him to Himself to enjoy the brighter, better, nobler life which can be entered upon only through the portals of death. Such a death may seem sad to us. We may grieve over it with a bitter and poignant grief that refuses to be comforted. But still, if we could catch a glimpse of the "other world," and learn just a little of its beauties, its blessedness and its opportunities for endless growth in all that is great in intellect and noble in character, how should we rejoice that the "departed one" has been called to enter upon such a life. Blessed are all those who have been gathered safely into the Father's home above. And yet the blow falls heavily upon Mr. and Mrs. Brown. They had already lost four children, and Everett makes the fifth. Only one remains here with them out of the six. In their sore affliction they have the warm and heartfelt sympathy of many friends. The funeral will take place at the family residence on Sunday afternoon, April 4th, at _ o'clock.
