The circumstances surrounding make the case worse tban it would be under ordinary conditions. Only one week ago last Thursday was she taken sick, and not until Sunday were the services of a physician thought necessary. But the seed of tbe disease had become grounded aud it was decreed that her life's pilgrimage was at an end. Diphtheria, in its most malignant type, had taken hold upon her, and although skilled practictioners and good nursing were at hand, their services availed not. The nature of tbe disease necessarily prohibited the friends from visiting her, and tendering to the grief-stricken husband those little courtesies, which under all circumstances are so acceptable, while the customary funeral service was omitted for fear results would be disastrous. Mr and Mrs Bunnell came to our city about five years ago, when he took charge of the Allen Paper Car-Wheel Co's business, and without ostentation, but rather with their quiet, unaffected ways, readily and rapidly ingratiated themselves into the good wishes and confidences of our people. A perfect gentleman and lady, living in and for each other, on that high scale of true manhood and womanhood, their acquaintance was sought, their companionship enjoyed. They had become nicely settled in their own home, surrounded by all of those comforts and conveniences which make life enjoyable, prepared to take life easy for the remainder of their days, which at best could be but few, when the All Wise signals and the wife of years is snatched away, almost without warning, aud the husband is bowed in grief which even time can not assuage. The funeral took place on Saturday, at 2 o'clock, the members of the Order of the Eastern Star, of which deceased was Worthy Matron, taking charge, and the remains interred at Evergreen cemetery.
