C. Huston, on south Division street, last night after an illness of only nine days of pneumonia. Charles Huston was born in Lebanon, Madison County, N.Y., March 24, 1812, and hence would have been 80 years old on March 24th next. On January 1, 1835, he was married to Miss Mary Jane Enos, who survives him with whom she has lived over fifty-seven years. They came to Illinois in 1844, settling in Newark, Kendall County, where they resided one year, when they settled the following year in this county upon a farm in Mazon township. He remained upon that farm until the breaking out of the war, when he opened a general mercantile store in Old Mazon. Nature of things created a change in about 1870, when New Mazon sprang up and the old town was soon a thing of the past. Deceased, too, took up his residence in the new town and opened the first hotel there, which he conducted until four years ago last August, since then he has made his home here with his son Dewey. Deceased was a civil engineer and surveyed the line of the Chicago & Alton road from Wilmington to Pontiac. Besides his aged widow he leaves four children living, viz: Charles E. and Mrs. Mary Brown, both of Armour, South Dakota, and D.C. and George W. Huston of this city. The funeral will take place from the Baptist church at 2 o'clock tomorrow, and the remains will be interred in Evergreen Cemetery.
