He was a true man, devoid of anything unbecoming a gentleman and the friend of every man, woman and child in the county. Mr Conklin was born in Saratoga county, NY, in 1800. In 1843 he, with his wife and nine children, came to Illinois and settled on land four miles south of Lisbon on the Conklin road, where he resided for sixteen years. The past year, he has lived with his son Gilbert in Seneca. He was in Morris last week and returned to Seneca on Friday apparently in good health. He was taken Monday with congestion of the lungs and expired on Tuesday morning. The remains were brought to Morris Wednesday and interred in the Saratoga burying ground.
