He had been in poor health for the past five years following a stroke of paralysis but had been bedfast for less than two weeks. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:30 in the Davis Funeral home. Rev. Ivan Obenshain will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The Odd Fellows lodge will be in charge of the services. Mr. Cryer was born Oct. 22, 1859 in Lancashire, England and came to America, when a child. He was united in marriage here to Elizabeth Sims, April 30, 1884. No children were born to them. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Mark Hamilton of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Ed. Bright, Mrs. John Bryant and Mrs. George Mitchell, all of Morris. Mr. Cryer had been a member of the local Odd Fellows and Rebekah lodges. February 7, 1938 Hold Funeral Services Today for Joseph Cryer By Harriet Waters Telephone 835 Morris, Feb. 7 - Funeral services for Joseph Cryer, 79 years old, who died at his home on Benton street here Saturday were held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Davis funeral home with the Rev. Ivan Obenshain, Methodist pastor, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery where the Odd Fellows lodge conducted rites. Mr. Cryer, a native of England, came to this country with his parents when he was four years old. Most of his life was spent at Morris. Four sisters survive, Mrs. Edward Bright, Mrs. John Bryant and George Mitchell, of Morris, and Mrs. Mark Hamilton, Kansas City, Mo. His wife died in 1933.
