For many months deceased, through old age, had been confined to his house, latterly dropsy set in and for the past twelve weeks he was confined to his bed. He was conscious up to a short time before the final separation, and when the end came he passed peacefully away. Deceased was born in Bavaria, Germany, and at the time of his death he was in his 85th year. He had been a resident of Illinois many years, having been engaged in business in Bellville, St. Clair county, a number of years before coming to Morris. He came here early in the 50's and built the building now occupied by Thompson & Johnson, where he conducted a general store for a number of years, retiring from business just before the breaking out of the war, since which time he lived a life of ease, a vacation he well and honestly earned. His aged wife, to whom he was greatly attached, is left to mourn his death. They had no children, but a number of years ago they adopted he who is now George Fey, Jr., who has been a favorite companion to the old folks in their declining years. The funeral will take place from the Catholic church tomorrow at 10 o'clock and interment will take place in Mt. Carmel cemetery. Of him can truly be said: He was an honest man and a good citizen.
