Galloway, who died at Odell on Monday, were brought to this city and buried from the Presbyterian church on Wednesday of this week, Rev. Magner officiating. A large number of friends and relatives were present, and a detail from Darveau Post, G. A. R., acting as escort. Deceased was born in Mercer county, Pa., in March, 1839. He came with his father, George Galloway, to Morris at an early day, and with the exception of three years in the army, resided here until the year 1872, when he went to Cleveland, Ohio, to study law with his cousin, W.C. McFarlane. At the breaking out of the war he enlisted in the 100th Pa. regment, known as the "Round Head Regiment." During the time of enlistment he was attacked with chronic diarrhea, and although broken in health served the full term of his enlistment. For about eight years he practiced law in Cleveland, but consumption having taken hold upon him, he was required to seek a home in other parts, and settled at Walla Walla, Oregon, where he resided until last fall when he was compelled to give up and return to Illinois to his sister, Mrs. Hunter, at Odell, where he at last fell by the hand of the disease which had so long followed him. He was a good student, a man of high character and good ability, and had he been blessed with health would have attained an enviable fame as a lawyer.
