On the 19th of October, 1882, Nellie Mason, daughter of Mr. William Mason Esquire, of this city, was married to Mr. Arthur A. Hoge. Although the seeds of the disease had then taken deep root in her system, the young couple started out in life buoyant with hope that the disease could be mastered, and their future made bright. But alas! Death has come and claimed the body, taking this pure spirit to the realms beyond. Soon after their marriage they commenced the construction of a house for their residence, which was but just completed and taken possession of when she was struck down and died. The funeral took place on last Sabbath from her late residence in the town of Nettle Creek. The remains were interred in the Morris cemetery. The funeral was one of the largest ever known in the county. Nellie Mason was the friend of everybody.
