Death summoned Mrs. Tollef Maland this morning at 3 o'clock in the home of her 
daughter, Mrs. Christ Anderson, Lisbon township, after a long illness due to 
the infirmities of old age. Her maiden name was Gertrude Sorem and she was 
born in Etne, Norway 87 years ago last Sept 15. She was married there to 
Tollef Maland and they came to this country in 1882 locating in Saratoga 
township. Her husband died there 32 years ago this month and for the past 
twenty years Mrs. Maland has lived with her daughter. She leaves four 
children, Miss Betsy Maland, of Morris; Mrs. Gilbert Estensen, of Saratoga; 
Mrs. Christ Anderson, Lisbon township and Ben F. Maland of Saratoga. She also 
leaves a brother Andrew Sorem in Norway who is 90 years old, and a sister, 
Mrs. Andrew Sorem, Sr. over 80, who lives in Benton street, Morris. The 
funeral will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the home of Mr. and 
Mrs. Christ Anderson and burial will be in Saratoga cemetery.
