But a little over one month ago came the intelligence from Iroquois county that William, the oldest son of Mary Peacock, of this city, had been murdered by his son, and the latter was confined in jail at Watseka. A brother, L. A., of this city, and the mother, Mary, went to Ashkum, the scene of the murder, and soon Andrew, who resided at Primghar, Iowa, came on and visited the scene of the murder. He was not in good health when he came here, and the excitement was more than he could bear. Returning home after his visit to Watseka, he became insane and was sent to the Kankakee asylum for treatment. There but a little over a week and he began to fall rapidly. On the 4th of this month Alex visited him, and while he was gone his house was destroyed by fire, as reported elsewhere in this paper. On Sunday came the news that Andrew was dead. The remains were brought here on Monday and Tuesday the funeral took place from the M. E. church, Rev. Bucks officiating. Deceased leaves a wife, (who was Mary Nobles) and one child, 6 years old. Mrs. Peacock was at her home in Iowa, too sick to make the journey here.
