He had reached a ripe age and is well remembered here. He married Cornelia Allen, daughter of John and Melissa (Dewey) Allen about 1854 and several children were born to them. Mr. Pomeroy was a brother of Mrs. John V. Benson, and Mr. Benson carried on the boot and shoe business here; Mr. Pomeroy was in his employ a number of years. He was an excellent musician, a fine player on the violin, taught singing school and had a remarkably fine voice. He had not been here in many years and his home was at Mazon, Ill., a long time. Mr. Pomeroy was of pleasing address and was very social in his nature.
