Mr. Rogers had reached a ripe old age and latterly had been on the decline, although continuing to give attention to his business, until one week ago last Sunday when he had a slight stroke of paralysis, after which he gradually falled until death came. Deceased was born at Boonesville, Oneida county, N. Y., and there resided, folling the avocation of a farmer until 1850, when with his wife, who died one year ago last May, he came west and purchased a farm in the town of Vienna, where he continued to reside until 1867 when he returned to New York, but to remain a short time only for in 1870 he was back in Illinois and engaged in the grocery business in a small way, which business he continued up to the time of his death. He had no children, but J. H. Rogers, of Wauponsee, a nephew, and Clara and Hattie, nieces, were very near to him, and gave him every attention. He was a most devout christian, a member of the Baptist church, and leaves this life to enter upon a more glorious inheritance. No man speaks ill of him. The funeral took place on Friday forenoon from the Baptist church.
