A. R. on whose roster was 250 charter members a few years after the last of the war. Mr. Trenter succumbed in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Buck, in West North street, where he was taken some weeks ago because of his enfeebled condition. His body was removed to the Daily funeral home and will remain there until funeral services at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Daily chapel. He will be buried in Evergreen cemetery and according to present plans will be given a full military burial by the American Legion with members of the W. R. C. and D. A. R. representing their organizations. Samuel Trenter would have been 92 years old next June 5 and was born in Mondsville, W. Va., June 5, 1842. He spent his early life there and in 1859 with a companion of his own age they hiked to the north in search of work and adventure. They landed in Lisbon and stopped there for some time and came to Morris as volunteers when called for to fight for the north. He enlisted and fought all through the war taking part in 32 engagements. He was wounded several times, but not seriously. First be became a member of the 20th Ill. Infty., and later joined the fourth Illinois cavalry remaining with that unit until the close of the war and his honorable discharge. He came back to Morris from the war, and lived here since. He was married here and his first wife died many years ago. From that marriage survives a son James, of Morris and a daughter Mrs. Cora Leach. He married Mrs. Mary Lynes 23 years ago and she had the following children by a former husband, Thomas, George, William, Dick, Fred Lynes, all of Morris, Abe and Clarence, both of California, Mrs. Mary Strong, Morris, Miss Adeline Lynes, of Sandwich and Mrs. Mae Whitney, of Sandwich.
