K. A. Squire Wood, died at his home, two miles north of Dwight, Saturday, May 14, aged 70 years, 3 months, and two days. He was born in Westford, Otsego county, N. Y., February 12, 1822. Came to Illinois in 1843 and settled in Lake county. In 1849 he removed to what was afterward Goodfarm township in Grundy county, where he has since resided. He was one of the oldest settlers of the county, and helped to organize the township of Goodfarm, being the first on in the township elected to public office, that of justice of the peace, which he filled with acceptability to the people for eight years. He was married to Miss Catharine Bute, Dec. 16, 1847, she survives him. To them were born four sons and four daughters, all of them present at the funeral. Services were held at the house Monday; Rev. Conard preaching the sermon.
