Cox, 77, McLeansboro, died at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind. He was born Sept. 30, 1924 in Evansville, Ind., the son of Bert and Mary (Smith) Cox, and was married May 11, 1945 to Marie F. Edmonds, who survives. The Rev. Mr. Cox was a semi-retired Pentecostal minister, serving as a pastor, evangelist and missionary for over 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Dale Pentecost Church. Also surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Joyce Cox of Glendale, Ariz., Keith and Diann Cox of McLeansboro, Kent and Faye Cox of Mesa, Ariz. and the Rev. Rick and Virginia Cox of Dewey, Ariz.; a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Kenneth Neal, Cordes Lakes, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, the Rev. Ralph Chaney officiating, with burial in Digby Hill Cemetery at Dale. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
