Obituary of Allie Sanders - Hamilton County, Illinois Popular Carmi Lady Dies Friday; Rites Held Sunday Death came to Mrs. Allie Sanders, 69, esteemed Carmi lady, at her home on Shockaw street Friday afternoon at 12:30. She had enjoyed excellent health until the past few weeks when she failed rapidly. Love of her children and her home dominated her file and her sacrifices and doting care brought her children nearer and dearer to her than apparent in most families. She was a lady of strong character, although quiet manner and endeared herself to a large circle of friends. She was born in Kansas City Missouri on July 17, 1889, the daughter of Frank and Florence McKee McHenry. On August 23 1911, in McLeansboro, she was united in marriage to Henry Sanders. He departed this life May 6, 1933. She moved to Carmi with her husband soon after their marriage and has made her home here ever since. Surviving are her four sons, Wilbert of Stockton CA., Jack and Edward of Carmi, and Donald of New Orleans, LA. Five daughters, Mrs. Ray (Ella) Lopinot of Caseyville; Mrs. Russell (Henrietta) Carte of Fresno, CA.; Mrs. Edison (Sarah) Campbell of Perkins OK.; Mrs. James (Margaret) Cummings of St. Elmo and Mrs. Harry (Edith) Blackford of Houma, LA.; 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Kittering Funeral Home chapel Sunday afternoon at 4:00 with Rev. Frank Clayborne of St. Elmo, officiating. The pallbearers were Douglas Sanders, Wayne Graves, James Graves, Donald Campbell, Junior Campbell, and James Blackford. The soloist was Dick Goetz, with Marie Morriss as organist. Internment was in Maple Ridge cemetery.
