Obituary for Elizabeth Jane (Langley) Rogers, Source Unknown Elizabeth Jane Langley was born Sept. 7.1832, in Gallaico, OH, and died May 29,1916, aged 83 years, 8 months and 22 days. She was married to James Rogers April 29,1856. He died 24 years ago. To this union were born 10 children: Five girls and five boys. Two boys, William and James, and three girls, Mary Ann, Nancy J, and Kate living. She confessed faith in Christ early in life at about the age of thirteen, joining the U.B. Church at Mount Nebo. She lived a consistent Christian life until God said it is enough, come up higher. Grandma had made her home the last year mostly at her son, William's, only being away three days at the time of her death. It was a great joy to her for her to tell of her hope of eternal life even after she became deaf she said it was pleasure for her to see Christians in joy church work. She and her husband were among the early pioneers who settled near Union church. Grandma's death was easy, her suffering was short. She leaves, besides her children, 13 grandchildren, 4 great- grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends who will always think of her as a dear old grandma who has gone to the home of the blessed. We feel that our loss is her eternal gain. She was one of those kind hearted mothers who chief aim was to help her family and, living for them taught her to live for others; thus was spent a long and useful life full of toil, full of hope, and full of sacrifice. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. L.M. Leyerle, Pastor of the L.E. Church in Dahlgren, and the remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband in Union Cemetery to await the resurrection of the just. Forget you we shall never, for God has called you, and he knows best; and in his tender mercy he has called you home to rest. Weep not, that her toils are over; weep not that her race is run; God grant we may rest as calmly when our work, like hers, is done. Til then we yield with gladness our darling mother to him to keep and rejoice in the sweet assurance he giveth his loved one sleep. ------------------------------------------------------------- UGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organiza- tions or persons.
